In the Twilight conversations we talked about a range of ideas. please see peoples blog post. One idea that was significant was the idea of the importance of having different perspectives. Not to 'agree' with them but to understand your own position better by understanding others positions. Here is a really interesting video about perspectives.
Hi I have blogged about the Skype session yesterday and would love to get some other opinions on how people view their practice which I mention towards the end of my blog. The link is:

Thankyou :)
Fantastic video, opening questions further around language, assumption, expectation, privilege, communication...so many possibilities and flavours
ReplyDeleteThis was a very interesting video. It is a reminder that we are not always honest in our perspectives, and our point of view can often be over shadowed by our culture. I have written a few blogs on perspectives and culture in relation to my inquiry on my blog. https://charliesteggles.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteAnd I have just added a video about Artefacts which I would like to hear peoples comments on after last nights group discussion.
Many Thanks Charlie S
This discussion was very insightful and it was interesting to hear so many opinions. The main topics covered included the meaning of collation and artefacts as well as ethics in relation to cultural differences. Please read my blog post to find out more...

I learnt so much from this skype, It was my second skype session so far and the discussion on lots of different topics really made me view some things differently. For example, how to present an artefact in creative ways, also how teaching in different types of schools or schools in different areas may change the way you might teach or speak. The other thing that the skype session gave me is confidence, confidence to believe in my practice and believe in my ideas and how I study. We all need to trust our judgement.
ReplyDeleteThankyou for the skype I will be blogging about teaching in a school based in a deprived area and how this might affect the way I teach and how my students may learn differently compared to somewhere else in a more privileged area.
This video is so powerful. Amanda was very brave to blog her video "In My Language", giving us insight into her perspective of the World and how she communicates through various senses other than the English language. The topic of autism is ever growing, where scientists and psychologists are continually discovering new branches to this complicated tree that is Autism. In relation to my practice, it is vital to be aware of all our senses: sight and feel for spacial awareness, hearing the music, smell for caution of lights overheating backstage. Watching A M Baggs has led me to reflect on how her condition has given her an incredible intelligence on another level, which others can learn from - feeling entirely aware of the space and objects around us in a state of mindfulness.
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a wonderful discussion. Here is a very short blog on triangulation on my blog below: http://jessleavins.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteMore thoughts to follow!
Hi, I have written a blog about creativity and culture, it would be interesting to hear other people's opinion on whether our culture influences what we perceive as creative work.

It sounds as though there were some similar themes bewteen both Skype discussions on Wednesday. I attended the earlier call and I have just published a blog post on the theme of 'relevance' in study and practice. Would be interested to know people's thoughts on the topic!

Hey all, I really found watching this video a good way to question not only other peoples perspectives and approach to their practice but also how I observe and link my own practice to things I don't fully understand. Check out my blog post on Perspective withing my practice and how we see things! Would be nice to hear your views!

I have to say, a strange video, but that is only because I don't fully understand. You don't have to always understand fully to appreciate something.
ReplyDeleteMy recent blog post in response to the Skype call on Wednesday 17th October. I have written about making links within your work from a unique perspective.

I watched this video multiple times. I must admit the first time I watched it I found it slightly disturbing and left me feeling a bit 'on edge'. However this made me reflect upon different perspectives and the beauty that lies within. This made me realise that expression is way more than words - it is sounds and actions too. This was very interesting to watch and reflect upon.

ReplyDeleteNn insight into another person's perspective is extremely fascinating. Understanding that everyone is different and accepting that is something I think a lot of us can learn. I found the twilight skype session very helpfull. I have blogged about what I personally took away from the skype here..
